Sending bulk emails can be a winning strategy to convert people on your newsletter list, or get out and get new customers.
But it’s not easy.
You’ve got to find systems to send emails, design emails, and make sure you don’t hit the SPAM box.
Remember, spam is terrible and everyone hates it – so don’t do that.
But when it comes to sending helpful emails to target audiences – bulk email works.
Sending Bulk Emails for Free
First off, when it comes to “free”, there are limits.
Unless you want to build your own SMTP server, maintain it, and use that to send (and even then you’ll still have some fees for the server itself).
The closest thing is using Amazon SES to send 10,000 emails per month for free.
Avoiding the SPAM Folder
It’s very likely that your emails will end up in spam if you send out your bulk email campaigns without optimizing deliverability. You’ll need to make sure your emails are targeted.
Avoid SPAM words and anything that comes off as “sales-y”.
Also make sure you clean your email lists to make sure the emails are valid. You can use something like MillionVerifier or Neverbounce for this.
Bulk Email Automation
Using something like FluentCRM or Mailpoet will bring down costs a ton on the actual automation. You can host these plugins in WordPress and connect your Amazon SES account.
Again it’s not 100% free, but it’s a nominal cost compared to something like Mailchimp.
Conclusion
Sending bulk email for free is nearly impossible.
But, you can send bulk email for very cheap and save a ton of money by taking some extra steps and using the best technology.
Whatever you do, make sure you’re sending targeted emails that are not sales-y and come off as a scam.
Imagine you’re receiving this email… would you open, read, and click it?
